THEM! - Risen From Perdition

What do we have to expect from THEM! ? Well, I know there is a Misfits-coverband around with the same name, but our THEM! are not simply a coverband. They write their own songs and that's how it's got to be: loud and fast! If i had to describe the sound of the band I'd say it's something between the 90's Misfits and the Crimson Ghosts... probably there is a load of other influences.

Interview with Hellgreaser

Hellgreaser is part of the new horrorpunk-breed that is rising in germany right now. Existing for only a year, they already released a debut-ep in the style of The Rosedales and Blitzkid - nothing new to the genre, but kinda unique for the german scene. So they started to grow a small but loyal fanbase.  And the number of these 'Slaves of the Night' expands with every gig. We wanted to learn more about these Greasers from Hell and invited them to our graveyard to ask them some questions.

Dr. Hell - When I Was Just A Little Ghoul...

The clinic of Horror has a new employee among all the already existing doctors. The name is Dr. Hell: A very young band from Germany with three guys and one girl. And in may of this year, they released their debut called When I Was Just A Little Ghoul. The bandname and the title of their album made me think of that cliché horrorpunk that is being produced daily. I have to admit, I was wrong. ’Cause these guys are somewhat of a fresh breeze in this scene where too many bands sound the same and take it all so serious. It’s not fantastic, it’s not all new but… They understand what the word punk is in horrorpunk.

Interview with Matt "Pathetic" Feltwater about Ghouls Night Out

At the beginning of the millennium a kid by the name of Matt "Pathetic" Feltwater started the very first horror-rock-festival: Ghouls Night Out. After three successful GNOs in the USA the fest became cult. Not only in America but worldwide people know the fest and appreciate what it did for the scene. Today, nine years later GNO returns. So we talked to the founder, Matt "Pathetic" Feltwater about the history of GNO, what it took to bring it back after such a long time of silence and what the fans can expect from this years Ghouls Night Out.

Interview with Vagora

Vagora is one hardworking band. They had a  double release in November last year and they’re not taking it easy yet. They just got back from a tour and are already getting ready for the next one. But that’s not all. Vagora has two new band members and they keep planning what they’ll be up to in 2012. We wanted to hear the whole story, so we decided to do an interview with them. They are the rolling skulls-and they obviously have a future!

Jamey Rottencorpse And The Rising Dead – The Rise Of The Dead

Jamey Rottencorpse and the Rising Dead scored second place so far on the facebook-question of GGG about the favorite european horrorpunkband. That made me curious about them. I’ve already heard about this guy and his band, but I never really heard the music before. Except for some clips and videos on youtube. So this was the first time that I actually sat down and listened to it. Jamey Rottencorpse and The Rising Dead is a german constellation that has been around since 2009. They’ve played around the country and shared the stage with many different bands. Even though I haven’t followed their career personally, they seem to have come a long way in the german horrorpunk scene and became quite well known.

The Fright - The Fright

The Fright are back from the dead. Since their new album is self-titled, they seem to found their sound with this fourth release. While the first two were Samhain-influenced horrorpunk, the band showed with “Born To Be Dead” that they’d head into another direction. So people who expect The Fright to be a horrorpunk-record may be abit disappointed. But the album definitely rocks (literally)! What The Fright gives you here is dark'n'sleazy – a combination of glam- and gothrock mixed with their horror-roots. So get dressed in black, grab a bottle of whisky and join the midnight revolution…

Interview with Robby Bloodshed from Robby Bloodshed & the Hitmen / Deadly Nights

Robby Bloodshed has been called the future of Horrorpunk. Still young he has already released an ep and shared the stage with bands such as Sardonica, The Cryptkeeper Five and Blitzkid. But thats not all: Robby keeps himself busy working on a new album and even joined a second band that will not only bring out their debut in 2012 but also playing the legendary Ghouls Night Out X-Festival. This hard working guy has come a long way in the New Jersey punk scene since he started in 2009. Reason enough for us to ask Robby a few questions to see whats behind this monster-teen.

Stellar Corpses - Dead Stars Drive-In

This review should actually be titled Welcome To My Nightmare. Not because of the previous Stellar Corpses album with the same name, but because of how I've struggled to write a solid review. I'm not saying it's a bad album, it's great. However, the Stellar Corpses just don't have what they once did. I first heard the Stellar Corpses pretty much just after they started up - their guitarist Emilio was a big fan of Gotham Road (check them out if you've been living above ground and listening to pop music for the last 10 years) and I interacted with a lot of their fans back then. The first chance I got to see the Stellar Corpses was when they supported Rezurex here in the UK - I missed that chance and I will forever be kicking myself for doing so! Two amazing bands that I missed and whilst I've seen Rezurex numerous times since I've never actually seen Stellar Corpses live. So what does all this have to do with reviewing Dead Stars Drive-In

Vagora - Nurture / Our Summer Is Everyones Fall

One date, one band, two albums! Yes, you read it right. On november 15th 2011 Vagora released two records: the full-length Nurture and the ep Our Summer is Everyones Fall. And I have to say: they rock! Okay, Vagora was kinda love at the second listen and I had to play their music twice before it hit me. But in the meantime they’re regular guests in my playlist and made me a fan. This band out of East Providence Rhode Island was founded in 2006 and already got loyal fans with their debut “Agoraphobic“ - not only in the U.S. but also a small base in Europe. The two newest cds should help Vagora to gain even more followers. Especially as they are not only a snap-shot, but show the development of the band. While “Nurture” kinda represents the past of the band, Our Summer… points to the direction in which Vagora is going.

Interview with Andrew Winter from Andrew Winter and the Reckless Dodgers

In Blitzkid he was called Jesco Devilanse - a combination of what many call "the last of the mountain dancers" documentary film star (Jesco White) and the patriarchal mean spirited father of the Hatfield clan (Devilanse Hatfield). But now he is Andrew Winter again. And he has a new band: Andrew Winter and the Reckless Dodgers (AWRD).  We’ve talked to him about his thoughts on Blitzkid, his time in Gorgeous Frankenstein and why he left both bands – and ofcourse about AWRD. Read some nice stories about his experiences on tour and how Jackal from The Crimson Ghosts once saved his life…

Interview with Travis Broyles, tattoo-artist

Even if you don’t know his name yet, you’ve probably seen some of his work. Travis Broyles is not only running the record label Robot Monster, he has designed several websites for horrorpunk-bands too. But his main profession is being a tattoo-artist who works at a studio in Washington. And he is great at what he’s doing. There’s a reason why people like Michale Graves and  J.V. Bastard go to him to get some ink on their skin. But make yourself a picture of him and read when he talks about tattoos, his connections to Blitzkid and more...

Braindead - Five Years Dead

Finally after years of hard work the russian horrorpunks from Braindead released their first full lenght album 5 Years Dead via Contra Lights Records.. Formed in 2004 the band played in the best clubs of moscow and other russian cities. Since then the band was already featured on several compilations and has an ep out for download called "Back To The Horror". But now the fans can hold a complete cd in their hands. The 14 tracks of Braindeads full-lenght-debut was mixed and mastered by Jackal at the Casket Garden Studios and was then ready to leave moscow to haunt the world.

Interview with J.V. Bastard from Darrow Chemical Company

Darrow Chemical Company has its roots in the horror-scene. At least most of the members have played in several horrorpunk bands. But this one is different - this is DIY-punkrock at it's best, including the recordings, the production and the promotion. Their debut "A Nightmare On Seventh Avenue" (see the review on this blog) was released half a year ago and immediately got listeners and fans all over the world. Besides of the rocking tunes, it's probably the honest and emotional lyrics from J.V about the everyday-horror that catches their attention. And the fans can expect more in 2012. Darrow-founder and songwriter J.V. Bastard talked with us about the band releases, his thoughts on the scene and the future plans for Darrow Chemical Company and its record label W.H.B. records. The nightmare fortunately continues...

The Cryptkeeper Five - The Unbeatable Cry

Few bands survive what the Cryptkeeper Five have endured. Even fewer bands have made something really interesting within the music of rock n roll. And maybe that's the reason for the survival of CK5; facing the adversity of the music buisness with heart, creativity and a middle finger. It's clear to see, hear and feel that they're always doing what they want. Cause just when you think you can pin them down, when you think a "genre" would be able to justify their wild and wonderful form of rock n' roll - CK5 surprise you. They are an ever growing beast - turning setbacks into tear-dripping and mosh-pitting rock and roll. They have put - for one and a half decade - all they have into something that has meant and still means so much to so many people all around the world. And we should be lucky we get to witness it all. I know I am

Interview with J~Sin Trioxin from Mister Monster

Mister Monster is somewhat of a legend in the horrorpunk-scene. With their very own style called "Boo Wop" the band gave their fans something unique. They are definitely one of our all time favorite bands and actually one of the reasons why the Graveyard Greaser Gang was founded in the first place. After years of silence, Mister Monster thrilled their fans with a reunion show last year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album “Over your dead Body”. As proud Skeleton Crew members, we’re happy that we got the opportunity to ask J~Sin Trioxin some questions about the past, present and future of the band. 2-4-5...Read!

Blitzkid – the end of an era

On February 12 at 6:12pm an announcement was made that shocked the Horror Punk scene: Blitzkid declared the end of the band in 2012. That is officially the end of an era. After nearly 16 years and 10 albums, T.B. Monstrosity and Argyle Goolsby put the Kid that slaughtered at the sock hop to rest. The Graveyard Greaser Gang wants to thank Blitzkid for an awesome time…

Darrow Chemical Company - A Nightmare on Seventh Avenue

Our review about "Darrow Chemical Company - A Nightmare On Seventh Avenue" (06-10-2011).

Horrorpunk doesn’t necessarily need vampires, zombies and such things. Darrow Chemical Company proves that with their debut „A Nightmare on Seventh Avenue“. Finally something new in the nowadays rather boring „scene“. The band is still very underground which has the negativ effect that they are not as known as they’d deserve – yet! But the Darrow-members ain’t new to the „scene“. They bring years of experience, playing in bands like Mister Monster, Gotham Road and Michale Graves. Darrow Chemical Company isn‘t a typical horrorpunk-band that goes on stage with make up and fangs, playing clichee songs. They’re more about the everyday horror and experiences that changes the way you look at things…as you can hear on „A Nightmare on Seventh Avenue“.

Dr. Geek & the Freakshow - Miss Graveyard

Our review about "Dr. Geek & the Freakshow - Miss Graveyard" (10-10-2010).

Miss Graveyard is the the first ep of the german horrorpunks Dr. Geek and the Freakshow – an ep full of catchy singalongs.  The musick is a mixture of The Other, The Neo-Misfits, The Groovie Ghoulies and similar bands. The result: 24 minutes of rotting bubble-gum-punk for graveyard-parties.
You can compare this debut from the three Saarland-zombies with a casket full of melodic horror. After a creepy intro, Dr. Geek and the Freakshow haunt your ears with seven tracks bout zombies, cenobites and more – including the typical whaoo’s. Okay, there may be nothing new about the musick or lyrics. But the trio definitely knows what they are doing. Like in a candybag from halloween, the content is varied: For example, the howlings change from song to song. While Elmstreet 1428 and the title-track Miss Graveyard features rough punk-vocals, Cenobites and the rest have more melodic croons. Bone-crushing drums, blood-dripping guitar and spooky bass-lines complete their sound. The last track Zombie Girlfriend even shows another musically side of the band. It starts with a dark deathrock-like part before it turns to horrorpunk.
Through the whole ep, the sound-quality is great. Especially for a debut. Even though the debut-ep is already sold out, you can listen to some of the songs on myspace
. Make sure to keep one eye open for Dr. Geek and the Freakshow, to see what future holds for them…

Aaron Omen - Beyond Villiainous

Our review about "Aaron Omen - Beyond Villiainous" (07-03-2010).

On “Beyond Villiainous” The King of Necro-Punk-A-Delica presents 15 great horrorrock-tracks.  The musick on this album sometimes reminds of The Spook, Blitzkid and The Rosedales - which is nothing bad as Aaron Omen still does his own thing. He wrote most of the songs by himself (except of two songs) telling macabre stories. You can really recognize the hard work and passion behind the album. This bastard child of rock-n-roll and nightmares is a fullblooded ghoul who brings fresh blood to the horror-scene.
Besides of the guest appearance of Argyle Goolsby (Blitzkid and 1476) “Beyond Villainous” has another awesome and innovative feature:  the two instrumental songs „The Witching Hour“ and  „Shangri La“ – not many horror-bands have that.  Both of the tunes create a great atmosphere and drown you in long gone times/places.
Talking about the songs: this cd has it all. There are some romantic songs like f.e. „My Corpse Bride“ and „We’ll die Together“ which brings back the heartbeat to any dead gurl. Other tracks such as „Kill Scene“ and „Terror At The Red Wolf Inn“ are faster, more aggressive and will move your ghoulish feet for a rocking pogo-pit. Personally I’d prefere these two songs even a bit more powerful - just to add some extra fuel to them.
After 12 creepy sing-a-long-songs (and the two instrumental tracks) the album ends with a pretty cool acoustic-cover of the Ramones-classic „Pet Sematary“.
„Beyond Villiainous“ is probably one of the best debut albums I’ve heard in a damn long time and a must-have for every horrorpunk-fan. It‘s throughout a good album that belongs in your cd collection. Just buy it and you won’t be disappointed.

A new Crypt for the Gang

The Graveyard Greaser Gang supports bands & friends since 2004. It started in Germany but then the technical progress gave us the opportunity to create an online-graveyard. Now we’ve decided to enlarge our graveyard by building a second crypt right here (the “notes” on facebook are definitely a grave that’s too small) to share some interviews and other stuff.
We already made interviews back in the days on myspace but stopped it since we couldn’t present them as we wanted them. But over the last few months we have got some questions from our friends and followers asking when new interviews will be posted. So that’s why we’re here and we can finally say that you don’t have to wait much longer. New stuff is in progress and will come up soon…
